- Date/place of birth identified in Jüdische Gemeinde Marisfeld (Kr. Hildburghausen), Matrikel 1768-1938, Koblenz: Bundesarchiv 1958.
- Identified as son of Jacob and Hulda (née Alder) Kahn in Marisfeld Matrikel
- Herbert Kahn worked in Themar and was arrested with the other men of Themar in the November 1938 Kristallnachtpogrom and hauled off to Buchenwald. He then moved to Berlin with his cousin Adolf Kahn. We believe that Herbert Kahn married Dina Kalwariski in Berlin, who lived at the same address and whose name was Dina Kahn, geb.
