About Hester Anna Myburgh
Translated from Die Myburghs van Suid-Afrika (1988), as father of Hester Anna van der Byl, who married Philip Albert Myburg:
Married Dec. 1770.
12 July 1751 - 6 June 1814; died and buried at Meerlust.
Daughter of Gerrit v.d. Byl/Bijl, who was the first male v.d. Byl born in South Africa. He was a leading citizen (burger) of Stellenbosch, 41 years old when he married the 16-year-old Elizabeth Grové, born at "Uitkyk", Klapmuts.
Hester was born at "Vredenburg", Stellenbosch, Western Cape, South Africa. (Next to Vredenheim farm). Her father also owned Joostenberg and build the current dwelling there.
Hester's brother, Pieter Gerhard v.d. Byl, married Philip Myburg's sister, Sophia Margaretha Myburg.
