About Rijk Hendrik Myburgh

Die Myburghs van Suid-Afrika (1988) says that he was born at Meerlust, then farmed and died at Elsenburg. So he presumably purchased Elsenburg.
Note: Elsenburg passed into Rijk's hands from Melck family sometime between 1812-1825. (See below.)

He must have bought and moved to Elsenburg (near Klapmuts, formerly owned by the first Martin Melck) around the time of his marriage, as their first child, Anna Margaretha, was born at Elsenburg. (One of his daugthers, Maria Johanna, married a Melck descendant, also Martin (Marthinus) and they lived on the farm Kersfontein, near Piketberg on the west coast.)

He was steward of the Stellenbosch Turf Club in 1825, according to Die Myburghs van Suid-Afrika.

Both Ryk and wife Anna Catharina were buried in the family grave at Elsenburg.
