About Hezekiah Slade

HEZEKIAH SLADE...married Helena Victoria Taylor and settled a place on Black Creek. He was very illiterate but after a while a learned man came to board with them and taught Mr. Slade and his wife to read and write. In just a short time Mr. Slade was able to transact his own business affairs successfully. Early Pioneer and Settler in Mississippi.Hezekiah Slade was the son of Samuel Slade and Elizabeth Matilda Irby. He was born in Big Pee Dee River, South Carolina in 1804 and settled in Mississippi some time before 1829. On February 13, 1829 he married Helena Victoria Taylor in Marion County. The couple had twelve children, six of which who served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War.

    Hezekiah Slade was born on April 14, 1804 in Big Pee Dee River, Cheraw District, South Carolina.1 He was the son of Samuel Slade and Elizabeth Matilda Irby. 

Hezekiah married Helena Victoria Taylor on February 13, 1829 in Marion County, Mississippi.2 Hezekiah Slade died in 1863 and was buried in Hezekiah Slade Cemetery, off Ed Reid Road on Rock Hill Hunting Club land, Pearl River County, Mississippi.3
