In the 1850 census for Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, Ira Chester is a merchant, age 35 from Connecticut. He is living in the household of Thomas J. (Daine?), with [wife?] (Sasaket?), 33, from Maryland. {8th ward, p.629}
There are IGI records for a marriage between Ira H. Chester and Sarah A. Brown, daughter of Vachel and Sarah (O'Hagan) Brown, in 1836 in Maryland; and to Mary Ann Wilshere in 1856 in Hamilton Co., Ohio.
Ira H. Chester is listed in the Cincinnati Directory in 1858 through 1861, 'tea and gas stove agency', living at 272 W. 6th.
NOTE: I have not located Ira in the 1860 census. I suspect he was not counted, as Dr. H. B. Musgrave, listed in the Cincinnati directory at the same address, is shown with his wife, mother and sister.
Ira died 26 Dec 1861 of dropsy and was buried in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio. {Interment #10040}
