About Isaac Frazier
Isaac Frazer was born January 19, 1763, in Guilford County, North Carolina. He was the son of Thomas Frazier, and his wife Mary.
Thomas was born in Scotland circa 1730; and Mary was born in Wales circa 1730. Ann M. (Frazer) Way on June 9, 1904, at age 86, recorded the children of Thomas and Mary (her great grandparents) as: George Frazier, Thomas Frazier, David Frazier, John Frazier, Isaac Frazer, Francis H. Frazer, Elizabeth (Betsy) Frazier, Rachel Frazier, and James Frazier. Isaac and Francis dropped the "i" from their names, thus Frazer.
Isaac Frazer was a blacksmith, like his brother James, and had a distillery in his younger years. Despite his Quaker background he ran a still, and, according to Ann M. (Frazer) Way's 1904 writing he "became a drunkard and went blind, was taken to Dr. Mendenhall to have his eyes doctored and while there was converted and died a Christian".
Isaac married Rebecca Safrite (described in 1904 by Ann M. (Frazer) Way as a "full-blooded German"). Rebecca was the daughter of Henry and Nancy (or Nannie) Safrite.
Issac and Rebecca were the parents of (1) Ann "Nannie", who married Isaac Hodson; (2) Mary, who married William Hodson; (3) Naomi "Amy", who married Benjamin Wheeler; (4) Isaac (who died at age 8 of croup); and (5) Henry, who married Mary "Polly" Otwell.
In 1828, Isaac moved from Guilford County, North Carolina, to Randolph County, Indiana, and lived for a time with his brother Francis. It is believed his wife Rebecca died before 1828. In 1838 Isaac moved with his son Henry to Hamilton County, Indiana, and then in 1844 to near Thorntown, Boone County, Indiana.
Isaac's death on January 23, 1846, was reported in the records of the Sugar Plain Monthly Meeting near Thorntown, and he likely is buried in the Sugar Plain Cemetery, although no gravestone is now visible.
