About James L. Anthony
The following obituary comes from "The News-Herald," Tuesday, April 29, 1980, Page 2, Columns 5 and 6:
“Pleasantville RD man killed in accident
A Pleasant RD 2 man was killed Sunday afternoon when a jack holding a car slipped and the vehicle fell on him. He was not found until Monday afternoon, by his nephew.
James J. Anthony, 45, went to the Jack Anthony Sawmill, owned by his nephew, Carl Anthony, for the purppose of removing a rear end from an abandoned vehicle parked there. The place was located on White City Road, Pleasanatville.
He apparently used a bumper jack to raise the veh8icle and then got under it. Police believe that due to the soft ground, the jack slipped, causing the vehicle to fall on him.
He was believed to have begun work on the car at 3 p.m. Sunday and was not found until 3:30 p.m. Monday. Venango County Coroner Jonathan Hutchinson was called in at 5:30 p.m. and pronounced him dead at the scene. He was then taken to the Leo N. Hennes Funeral Home by the Oil Creek Area Ambulance Service.
