James Lochhead, merchant

JAMES LOCHEAD

merchant burgess, and guild brother of Glasgow

is the second son of the deceased Walter Lochead, baxter in Glasgow. He was enrolled as a burgess and guild brother of Glasgow on 30 March 1626 [James R. Anderson, The Burgesses and Guild Brethren of Glasgow, 1573-1750 (Scottish Record Society, 1925), page 64].

Birth

James Lochead must have been at least twenty-one years of age when he was enrolled as a burgess and it seems likely, therefore, probable even, that he was born on or before 30 March 1605 [James R.
