Col James Minott
From History of Concord:
"Colonel James Minott, the fifth child [of James Minott & Rebecca Wheeler], was one of the most distinguished men of his times. He was a military officer about thirty years, and advanced to colonel, justice of the peace, representative, and a member of the King's Council.
He married 1. Martha Lane 1716; had

- Rebecca (who married Benjamin Prescott of Danvers and were the parents of Roger Sherman's second wife Rebecca Minott Prescott, and
- James.
His wife died 1735; and he m. again Elizabeth Merrick; and had
- Martha Lane Minott married Rev. Josiah Sherman of Woburn (Roger Sherman's younger brother);
- Ephraim
Colonel Minott died on February 6, 1759 a 64."

13. Col. James Mi not, born 1694; died 1759; married 14 Nov., 1716, Martha (born 1 Oct., 1694, died IS Jan., 1734/5), daughter of Col. John Lane, of Billerica; married (2) 9 Oct., 1735, Elizabeth (born 1705, died 13 Sept., 1779), daughter of Tilley Wilder, of Lancaster, Mass., and widow of Tilley Merrick, of Brookfield, Mass. She survived him and married for a third husband, 10 May, 1763, Rev. Daniel Rogers, of Littleton, Mass. Col. James Minot was one of the most prominent citizens of Concord, which fact is shown by his gravestone in Concord, in the Hill Burying Ground.

Gravestone Inscription:
Here lye the remains of Col. James Minott Esqr. who departed this life Feb. 6. 1759 in the 65th year of his age. He was of Honl. descent, early improved & advanced in Civil and Military affairs. Divers years represented this town at the General Court was a justice of the peace, and one of the hon. His Majesties Council for many years, which offices he sustained until his death. In all which stations and relations of life he behaved as the Christian, the Patriot, and the benevolent friend, and as he merited so he was much loved and honored in is life and lamented at his death. Memmento Mori. 'From death's arrest no age is free'
