About Jane Ellis
Jane is the daughter of the Quaker farmer John Hughes and Martha Caimot (b.1653, d.1698). Her mother died on board the ship in the Atlantic Ocean when the family was immigrating to America.
She immigrated on board the ship "Robert and Elizabeth" at the age of 15 with her family. Her father was listed as one of original purchasers in 11, 450 acre tract known as Gwynedd. He purchased 648 acres for his own use.
Jane married the Quaker farmer Thomas I Ellis on 31 Aug 1712 in the Gwynedd Meeting House in Montgomery Co., PA.
They had 7 children that they named John, Morris, Eleanor, Rowland, Thomas, Mordecai and Enos Ellis.

An account of the meeting at Berks seems to state that Jane was prominent in the meeting: " Exeter Monthly Meeting had for its ministers during its long history these Friends: Ellis Hughes, Moses Roberts, Samuel Embree, James Iddings, William Iddings, Abraham Griffith, Abel Thomas, Isaac Potts, Amos Lee, Enos Lee, Jane Ellis, Deborah Boone, Mary Lightfoot, Abigail Wily, and Dr. Henry Tyson. " As was her grandson Amos Lee.
The Boone family (Deborah) is in the line of the now somewhat mythic Daniel Boone of Kentucky.
