notes

Her father, Richard Eltonhead, recieved the Manor of Eltonhead upon the death of his uncle. Of Richard's eight daughters, five and possibly six eventually emigrated to Virginia or Maryland. Possibly the Cromwellian period of their exodus had made life more difficult.

Jane's twelfth great grandfather was William Le Norreys, Lord of Eltonhead. His establishment of his esteemed position was that which alligned his family with other Royal lineage. The surname, Norreys, was dropped in favor of Eltonhead within the next generation.

Through her lineage, she is also, as her husband was, a descendent of King Henry III of England. Through her relations of many Royal lines, she is also descended via Hameline Plantagenet, the Earl of Surrey, to the Royal lines of France and Italy. Her other notable ancestors are that of King Henri of France, her eighteenth great grandfather; King Erik Segersall of Sweden, her twenty-first great grandfather; Emperor Louis of the Holy Roman Empire, her twenty-fourth great-grandfather; and also a twenty-fourth great grandfather, Charlemagne.
