Cornelis Gerretse Van Nieuwkercke
Son of Gerrit Cornelisse Van Nieuwkercke, and Chieltje Cornelissen Slecht. Born c 1662, probably on Long Island, New York and died 1695/96. Married in Ulster county on September 16, 1683 to Jennetje Jansz Kunst, born February 24, 1664, probably in New York, daughter of Jan Barrentsen Kunst and Jacomyntje Cornelis Slecht Kunst. Living as late as August 2, 1729, at which time she was mentioned in a deed as the widow of Cornelis Newkirk, late of Hurley. Seven children, all baptized at Kingston, Ulster county, New York: 1, Gerrit, baptized July 28, 1684 at Kingston, Ulster county, New Youk and died 1724 in Hurley. Married in 1709 to Grietje (Marguerite) Ten Eyck, who was baptized on February 10, 1689, the daughter of Mathys and Jenneken Roosa Ten Eyck. Will probated September 3, 1724, providing for his wife and five living children and one to be born in November 1724. 1. Cornelius, baptized September 28 1711; died young. 2. Jannetjen, baptized October 12, 1712; married January 15, 1730 to Garret Elmendorf, born about January 1696. Four children. 3. Cornelius, baptized May 1, 1715 in Ulstr county, New York, and died there before February 14, 1783, when will was probated. Married September 9, 1737 to Neeltfen Du Bois, who was baptized May 27, 1716, daughter of Jacob and Gerretje Newkirk Dubois. Eleven children.4. His wife married secondly June 22, 1731 to William Burhans.
