BAKER, JOHN, Boston, blacksmith, ar. co. 1644, had m. John (Joan or Jane), eldest d. of Thomas Swift, of Dorchester, sev. yrs. (prob. ten) bef. 5 Nov. 1657, wh. date from the MS. vol. in the Boston office of reg. usual. vol. 1, p. 97 accept. as a rec. while it is only a copy, is truly print. from the false certif. of Gov. John Winthrop wh. d. 26 Mar. 1649 as the error may be read in Geneal. Reg. XI. 202.
By her he had John, wh. d. young, 20 June 1654; Thomas, b. 12 Feb. 1654; Samuel, 16 Apr. 1650, d. in 3 mos.; Nathaniel, 4 Apr. 1656, d. soon; of wh. four ch. the false certif. on rec. would make all b. bef. the m. Also he had John, again, 17 July 1658, d. in few mos. and Elizabeth 26 June 1660

24 Apr 1686: Division of Land late belonging to John Baker of Boston in New England BlackSmith Deceased as it is now Scituate being at the Northerly End of the Town of Boston ... unto thirds between the Children of said John Baked Deceased Namely Thomas Baker [and Sarah his Wife] Elizabeth Baker now wife of Hopestill Humphry and Silence Baker ... [Thomas having purchased Elizabeth's share, agreement sets off part to Silence and she quitclaims to Thomas any right to the remainder].
