Johann is buried in a small cemetery in the bush on the outskirts of Braunschweig (S32 47 12.34 E27 21 49.59), north of King William's Town, Cape Province, South Africa. Dates of birth and death confirmed from his tombstone and from the list of those interred in the Braunschweig Cemetery received from the Amathole Museum in King William's Town.
Both his tomb stone and death notice present his name as Herman Johan Heinrich PAUTZ but also incorrectly record his place of birth as "Moldenberg" as opposed to Woldenburg. However, his baprismal record clearly shows that he was named Johann Hermann Heinrich PAUTZ. On the La ROchelle passenger list he is recorded as Hermann, so that is how he was probably addressed all his life.

In Dorothea Marie BARTEL death notice, the children are confirmed as Ferdinand (major), Ernst (major), Emma (major), Mathilde (minor), Gottfried (minor), Marie (minor) and Caroline (minor). Did not transcribe husband's name or date of death, but the latter calculates from the tombstone (48 yr. 1 mth. 18 days).
Herman Johan Heinrich PAUTZ death notice confirms that Dorothea Marie BARTEL was his wife and that their children were: Emma Louise Dorothea Friedricha - nee Pautz ( major. widow), Mathilde Louise Pautz ( major.spinster), Caroline Auguste Randall (nee Pautz), Marie Auguste Friedrichs (nee Pautz), Ferdinand Johan Pautz (major), Ernst Friedrich Pautz (major). He died aged 87 yr. 2 1/2 months (using 14 days, it confirms the tombstone). He was a farmer resident in the Izeli district, King William's Town.
