Biography

John Holtzclaw was born circa July 17, 1709 in Oberfischbach, Nassau-Siegen (now Germany) . His parents were Hans Jacob Holtzclaw and Anna Margarethe Holtzclaw (Otterbach).

John married Catherine Holtzclaw (Russell) circa 1730 in Fauquier, Virginia, USA. Together they had the following children:

1. Catherine Martin (Holtzclaw);
2. Mary Bennett (Holzclaw);
3. Elizabeth Ann Duncan (Holtzclaw);
4. Henry Holtzclaw;
5. Joseph Holtzclaw;
6. Benjamin Holtzclaw, Sr.;
7. Josiah Holtzclaw;

He died between 1750 and 1752 in Germantown, Prince William (now Fauquier) County, Virginia.
