Johannes "Jan" Muller (1953 - 2023)
Brief overview:
Jan (69), and his wife Kitty were sitting outside on the veranda when they were ambushed by between three and five men at around 19h00 on Monday 27th February 2023.
Jan was found at the door of the house, he had been bludgeoned, beaten and sustained multiple stab wounds. Kitty was tied up in the bedroom and found with a severe stab wound to her chest. She was rushed to the Netcare Unitas Hospital in Centurion for further medical treatment. As she had lost a lot of blood, she was immediately sent for scans to determine if she had suffered any internal bleeding. Kitty is currently in a critical but stable condition.
"A family spokesperson, Ian Cameron, of the civil organisation, Action Society, told News24 the couple was enjoying an evening outdoors on their smallholding in Mnandi, outside Centurion, when the attackers pounced.
Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello said: "The police received a complaint of a house robbery in progress and, upon arrival, they found a white man lying face down with multiple stab wounds. The man was declared dead on the scene and the woman who had also sustained a stab wound on the body was taken to hospital."
"No one has been arrested yet and all leads are being followed up," said police spokesperson W/O Johan Van Dyk.

- According to Ian Cameron attacks on smallholdings in the Mnandi area have been a major problem for the last 15 years. Residents of this area fear for their lives due to violent uprisings by illegal land occupiers. "A lady was stabbed recently, and someone was shot. The area is not doing well," he said. According to information, these occupiers have still not been removed.
