Biography
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Bowen-9066
John Bowen was a great-grandson of Griffith Bowen, [1] the Welshman who, as part of the great migration, brought the Bowen name from Britain to Boston in 1638. [2]
He was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts on February 23, 1706, the son of John Bowen and Hannah (Brewer) Bowen. [3]
On June 6, 1734 he married Mehitabel May, the daughter of John May and Prudence (Bridge) May. [4] [5]
The birth of John's first three children; Mehitable, John and Penuel; are documented in Roxbury Vital Records. Joshua's and Samuel's birth are not found in any known official records. Joshua, however, is proved John's son in various original documents. Samuel's sonship can only be inferred from various circumstances and documents. See each child's profile for details.
Likewise no official documentation of John's death has been found. However, his probate administration took place in Roxbury during 1788-9, so his death can be inferred as having taken place in 1787-8. [6] It is believed his wife, Mehetable predeceased him.
