Biography ==The Boston Tea Party was held December, 1773, when about sixty men armed as Indians boarded two vessels laden with tea, tore open the hatches, and threw 340 chests of tea overboard as a protest against the levyof taxes without the consent of the people. The populace had previously refused to permit any cargo of tea to be landed and a number of ship had been obliged to leave port with their cargo untouched. In the following year the British Parliament passed a bill closing the port of Boston and transferring the seat of government to Salem. The bill became law on March 31, 1774.
Lieutenant John Kendrick (1735-1802) was one of a committee appointed the 14th of June, 1774, to oppose the bill, a protest against closing the port of Boston. He served as Lieutenant in Capt. Walbridge's Company, 15th Regimental Continental troops, commanded by Joseph Reed, Esq.His name appears on the Company Muster Roll dated Stafford, June 2, 1783.

William Kendrick's father was John Kendrick of Gloucester County, VA, born 1670, died 1715.
