     This Indenture made the third day of June one thousand seven hundred fifty & six between JOHN LANGSTON of Granville County in the province of North Carolina of the one part & John Williams of the aforsd county of the other part witnesseth that as the said JOHN LANGSTON for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings Sterling money of England to him in hnd paid by the said John Williams before the Signing and sealing of these presents all ready paid the receipt whereof he doth hereby confess and acknowledge himself there with fully satisfied contented and paid and of every part and parcial there of to the said John Williams his heirs Execrs and Asigns and every of them doth hereby fully clearly and absolutly acquit and cischarge hath Bargained sold and confirmed to the said John Williams his heirs and assigns and one certain tract or parcel of Land containing by estimation one hundred and five acres to the same more or less situate lying and being in granville County on both sides of Tar River and bounded as followeth to wit. Beginning at a Hickory on the N. Side of Tar River on Wm Williams's line then go N. to a king oak and Black oak then go W. to a Black Oak then go So to a Hickory then go Ea to the first station mentioned to have hold and peacably to injoy the sd one hundred and five acres of land to the same more or less with all the houses orchards gardens woodsway underwoods and meadow grounds and all othere and singular the Improvements thereoute belonging or in any wise appurtaining to the said land and premisses and as the said JOHN LANGSTON do further saith that he will warrant and defend the right and title of the said land and promises to be good to the said John Williams his heirs and Assigns and for ever by virtue of a deed granted to him by Earl Granville's Agent bearing date in May 1755 whereof the above said one lived 250 and five acres are part of the said land granted to him by said deed and the said JOHN LANGSTON do promise for himself his heirs Exers Adms and Assigns and to make any further right title or conveyance to the said John Williams for the said one hundred and five acres of land as he the said John Williams his heirs and Assigns or his or their Council learned in the the Law shall lawfully require. At a court held for the County of Greenville, August Term, AD, the following Last Will and Testament of John Langston, dec’d, was produced in open court and proven by the oaths of Joshua Smith and John White and ordered to be recorded which was done this 11th Nov 1790.

In the name of God Amen, I John Langston of South Carolina an worthy member of the church being through the abundant mercy and goodness of God tho weak in body yet of a sound and perfect understanding and memory do constitute this my Last Will and Testament and desirest may be received by all as such.

IMPRIMIS: I most humbly bequeath my Soul to God my maker beseeching his most gracious acceptance of it through the all sufficient merits and mediation of my most compassionate redeemer Jesus Christ who gave himself to be an atonement for my sins and is able to save to the uttermost all that come unto God by him seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them and I trust will not reject me a returning penitent sinner when I come to him for mercy in this hope and confidence I tender up my Soul with comfort humbly beseeching the most blessed and gracious Trinity, one God most Holy most Merciful and Glorious to prepare for me the time of my dissolution and then to take me to himself in that peace and rest and incomparable felinity which he has prepared for all that love his Holy Name, Amen.
