William Tanner b 1660 Eng, d S Kingstown, RI. He m1 Hannah Tibbetts, dtr of Henry Tibbetts & Sara Stanton. She b 1664 Kingstown, RI, d S Kingstown, RI. He m2 Mary Babcock. He m3 Elizabeth Cottrill. Earliest record found was when William Tanner witnessed deed in May 1682 in S Kingstown, RI. It’s believed he emigrated from western Eng or Wales, some conjecture Swansea as this is where most Eng Baptists were from & Tanners were ‘good Baptists.'
