Joshua Boone

Joshua Boone was the son of James Boone, Sr., and wife Mary Foulke. He was born April 4, 1749 in Exeter, Berks County, Pennsylvania. He died January 2, 1835 and was buried at the Exeter Friends Burying Ground, Exeter, Berks.

Joshua's date of birth on the DAR records is shown as March 24, 1748.. The difference could be due to Old Style and New Style dating.

Joshua married twice. His first wife was Hannah Griffith of Oley Township, Berks. They were married c.1781 and had seven children. She died August 29, 1794 and was buried at the Exeter Friends Burying Ground. His second wife was Jane, believed to be Jane Thomas. They had two children. She was born January 2, 1785 and died October 15, 1834. She was buried at the Exeter Friends Burying Ground, Exeter, Berks.

Joshua became a storekeeper in Oley Township about 1784, a position he kept until he took over his father's sawmill in Brunswick Township, a distance of about 60 miles from Exeter. He was a frequent customer of his brother Moses's tannery, and their account books survive today. He is mentioned in his father's will, receiving a small amount of cash, as he had received the bulk of his inheritance when he got the deed to the sawmill.

• Sarah Boone, born August 2, 1789 in Oley Township
• Samuel Foulke Boone, born June 10, 1791 in Oley Township and died six days later
• Samuel Boone, born in 1794 and named for his baby brother
