About Rachel Wilcoxson
Rachel Boone was the daughter of James Boone, Sr. and wife Mary Foulke. She was born on April 10, 1750, in Exeter, Berks County, Pennsylvania. She married William Wilcoxson about 1777. In old texts his name is spelled Willcockson.
On July 30, 1777, Rachel was condemned by the Exeter MM for marrying out of unity and being married by a priest. On September 13, 1790, William and Rachel leave Pennsylvania to settle in North Carolina. Several other Boone and Wilcoxson family also make this move. In 1797, Rachel returned to Pennsylvania for a visit with her family, traveling with Elizabeth Freelan and son Harry Freelan.
After she returns to North Carolina, the Boone family hears nothing more from Rachel. What became of her, if she had children, where and when she died is still unknown. It is not known if she was part of the Boone party that settled in Kentucky.
