About James Boone, Jr.
James Boone, Jr., was the son of James Boone, Sr., and wife Mary Foulke. He was born on January 26, 1783 and died October 16, 1795. He was buried at the Exeter Friends Burying Ground in Exeter, Berks. He never married and left no children. He was a prominent schoolmaster
James left a will, dated January 22, 1795 and probated in November 1795, which can be found in the Abstracts of Berks County, Vol. I, page 555. In this will he mentions his nephew James (son of his deceased brother John), his sister Anne LIncoln, his brother-in-law George Hughes, and brothers Moses and Joshua, with Joshua named as executor. He instructed Moses and Joshua to print a book he had written on surveying. Moses received his farm in Brunswick Township.
James was known from an early age to be an excellent mathematician, having learned geometry by the age of ten. He studied in Philadelphia and knew Benjamin Franklin and other great thinkers of that era. He left his library to his brother Moses. He was no idle reader. Many of the books had notes and calculations in the margins.
