6. Benjamin Swift Sexton's - Account of Sexton family History. "Page 5......But before the Davis family left Kentucky, the bonds of love had grown so strong which bound the hearts of Joel Sexson and Abi- Page 6 gail Davis together that distance was no barrier to the gallant young mountaineer. And about A. D. 1822, he mounted on horseback and hastened over to the Hoosier state to see his sweetheart. And Daddy evidently meant business for he married Mamma and they mounted on horseback. And Daddy took her back with him to his old kentucky home. And they lived in Whitley County Ken until three children were born unto them whose names were, Rebecca Lovin, Lemuel - -

Boon and John Grandville. And about 1826 they emigrated to Indiana and settled on Little Indian Creek not far from where they were married. And after they lived a few years in Monroe County they moved over onto Big Indian Creek in Greene County on the road leading from Cincinnati to Harrodsburg. On a farm that is owned by John Riley Weaver. And they lived there until Father died in October 1868. And there were born unto them twelve Hoosier children, wich was Isaac, Free and Eliza Leah and William Alex-
Page 8 ander were twins and next was Mary Ann, Permelia Jane and Olevia Ellen and Galena Rowan were twins and Joel Banton, Carrol Speed and Benjamin Swift. And there were two that died when they were very young which I don't think were ever named. Making in all fifteen children But there were only nine of the children that lived to be grown and as i am the youngest of the whole family, I don't remember of seeing any of them except them that lived to be grown.

Page 9 And after Father got settled and established on his Green County farm he went back to Kentucky and brought his mother and his youngest brother home with him and settled them down on his own farm and kept them there until they died. And he buried them in the old Storm Cemetery about one mile south of where he lived. And all of the children that lived to be grown except Speed, married and raised up families. But Banton and Speed volunteered in the Union

Page 10 army in the war of the Rebellion in August 1862. And Speed contracted typhoid fever and died February the 24 1863. at LaGrange, Tennessee. And brother Grandville went down there and brought him home and he was buried in the old Storm Cemetery near the old homestead. So Joel Sexson was born in Grayson County Virginia, May 23, 1800 and Abigail Davis Sexson was born in Whitley County Kentucky December 18, 1805. And they were married about

Sept 1822. And Joel Sexson died October 1868. And Abigail Davis Sexson died February 1884. And Carroll Speed Sexson was born Dec 7, 1842 and died Febuary 24, 1863. So I don't know the dates of all the births and deaths of all the other brothers and sisters. i will leave that account for one of each family to give. . . . ."
