From Little Compton Families- The Richmond Family Judge William Richmond was born in Little Compton, Rhode Island on October 10, 1694 and died there February 22, 1770. He married in Little Compton, Rhode Island, July 8, 1724 Anna Gray, daughter of Dr. Thomas and Anna (Little) Gray, born in Little Compton, Rhode Island, January 29, 1702, died in Bristol October, 9 1762.He was one of the assistants to the Governor from 1753 to 1755. He was a judge, and instrumental in locating the line securing Little Compton to Rhode Island. He was named town clerk March 15, 1731.

His will, dated July 5, 1765 and proved April 3, 1770 in Little Compton: "...To son Barzilla, 500 Spanish milled dollars. To son Ephraim, 150 Spanish milled dollars. To son William Richmond, northerly part of ye farm I now live on, from the highway to the sea from a straight line in the middle of said farm, and what right I have in Dye lot with my dwelling house and one half of my Collamer land. To son Perez, the other half or remaining part of said farm with the other half of Collamer land. To son Thomas, 5 Spanish milled dollars. To son Sylvester, 300 milled dollars. To daughters Elizabeth Brownell, Mary Ware and Sarah Walker, 50 dollars each.

To daughter Abigail Pitts 100 dollars and my silver tankard. To all my daughters, my remaining household goods. To daughter-in-law, Hannah Richmond, wife of son William, my great Bible and my books to be divided among my daughters. To grandson, Gilbert Richmond, son of my son Ichabod, 100 dollars. To grandchildren, children of my son Ephraim, excepting Anna, 100 dollars equally. To granddaughter Anna, on daughter of my son Ephraim 50 dollars. To son William Richmond, my Negro man named Solomon and my Negro woman named Amey, he to take care of her during her life and she to be obedient to him. To son Ebenezer... Sons William and Perez to be executors..

Hon. William Richmond (4), son of Col. Sylvester Richmond and Elizabeth (Pabodie) Rogers, was born 1694, died February 22, 1770, married Anna Gray, daughter of Thomas and Anna Gray.

He was assistant to the Governor from 1733-1755, a Judge and instrumental in locating the line securing Little Compton to Rhode Island. Town Clerk in 1731.

The record of Col. Sylvester Richmond (4) brother of Hon. William Richmond shows that he commanded the 6th Massachusetts Regiment in the campaign against Louisberg. For his bravery at that time, he was invited to England to receive thanks of the Crown. He declined, but sent his son, who received a commission.

He sympathized heartily and deeply with the Colonies in their struggles and felt painfully grieved when one of his sons, who had been an officer under the King of England, refused to join the Revolutionary Army.
