Daughter of John L. Roberts and Sarah Ann Matthews.
Mrs. John R. Hall died at her home in Lucas, Iowa, on Thursday afternoon, May 13, 1935, at the age of 67 years and 20 days, after an extended illness with a complication of troubles. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Archie Beals, of Russell, were held at the Methodist church In Lucas on Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, and burial was in the Goshen cemetery. Emily Kathryn Roberts was born in Mason county, Illinois, on May 3, 1868. When but a small child she came with her parents to a farm in Clarke county, Iowa, and her home had since been in that county and in Lucas county. She was united in marriage to John Riley Hall on March 24, 1887, and to this union twelve children were born, seven daughters and five sons, all of whom are living, and all were with their mother and helped to care for her during her long illness and death except one daughter, Mrs. Floyd Cackler of California, whose cheerful greetings to her mother told how her thoughts were of home and her desire to be there. Mrs. Hall was converted and baptized when a young woman and attended the Methodist church at Lucas as long as her health, permitted. She was always kind to and thoughtful of others, and during her illness worried greatly about her family. She had been in falling health for several years and had been confined to her bed since last November. She bore her sufferings patiently and expressed her readiness to go home to her Heavenly Father and hoped to meet her family some day on the other shore. She leaves to mourn their loss her husband; John R. Hall, and her children, Mrs. Oscar Polser Mrs. Geo. Pfrimmer, Harry, Rhoud, Clifford and Bert Hall, all of Lucas; Mrs. Roy Cackler, of Fresno Calif.; Mrs. Ellis Shaw and Mrs. Carl Walls, of Chariton; Mrs Chas. Grimes, of Derby; Robert Hall, of Corydon; Mrs. Cyril Knox, of Des Moines; also thirty grandchildren, and four sisters and five brothers, Mrs. Jessie Gohen. Mrs. Alfred Mowery and Mrs. Alf Gohen, all of Lucas; Mrs. Anthony Phillips, of Des Moines; James, Ed and George Roberts, of Lucas; John Roberts, of Des Moines; Tom Cackler, of Lacona; and other relatives and friends. Among those from out of town in attendance at the funeral services were Mr. & Mrs. Cyril Knox Mr. & Mrs. John Roberts, of Des Moines; Robert Hall, of Corydon; Mr. & Mrs. Tom Cackler and family, of Lacona; Mr. & Mrs. Carl Walls, Mr. & Mrs. Ellis Shaw, Mrs. Don Williams, of Chariton; Mr. & Mrs. Jesse Peterson, of Truro; Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Leaf Mrs. Arthur Moon, of near Williamson; Mr. & Mrs. Chas.
