About Lady Katherine Howard, Countess of Nottingham

Catherine, the first Countess of Nottingham, was a favorite with Queen Elizabeth I. When Catherine died at a young age in February 1603, the Queen “fell into a deep melancholy and herself died March 20th.”[9]
Katherine Carey was the daughter of Henry Carey, 1st Baron Hunsdon of Hunsdon and Ann Morgan.1,3 She married Charles Howard, 1st Earl of Nottingham, son of William Howard, 1st Baron Howard of Effingham and Margaret Gamage, circa July 1563.4 She died on 25 March 1603.
Her married name became Howard. As a result of her marriage, Katherine Carey was styled as Baroness Howard of Effingham on 21 January 1573. Children of Katherine Carey and Charles Howard, 1st Earl of Nottingham

Countess of Nottingham
Daughter of Henry Carey, 1st Baron Hunsdon, and Anne Morgan. Paternal granddaughter of Sir William Carey and Lady Mary Boleyn. Maternal granddaughter of Sir Thomas Morgan of Arkestone, Hertfordshire, and Anne Whitney.
She married Charles Howard in June 1563, and became Lady Howard of Effingham when he succeeded to his father's title in 1573. In 1586, he was became the 1st Earl of Nottingham.
Together they were the parents of five surviving children:
