"John Proudfoot married Lenora Hitt, a German girl of Virginia. They lived in Taylor's Drain, below Philippi, Barbour County, WV. He died in 1823 & his wife in 1829. Both were buried at Mary's Chapel near Taylor's Drain.

John Proudfoot, who was born in Scotland about 1750, came to this country while a young man. He was very highly educated for the ministry in the Presbyterian Church." [publisher unknown]
