Leonard was baptized in Benken, Switzerland 25 Dec 1727 and died in Hardy County Va (WV) in 1786. His will, dated 7 Apr 1783 and recorded in Hardy County Will Book 1 pages 2 & 3, was proved on 16 Jun 1786. He and Anna had 7 sons and 1 daughter. It is believed that he and his wife are buried on their land which is now Grant County. (Source: RootsWeb's World Connect Project CVAR) He inherited the homestead of his father on the south side of the South Branch Potomac near the site of Fort George. Also, where the present day airstrip at Petersburg exists and THE HYRE (HYER) CEMETERY.
