Margrete Christine Laugen was born on December 29,1869, in Næroy, Nord-Trøndelag county, Norway. She was the daughter of Knud Olsen Laugen and Karen Sofie Laugen. Margrete Christine was christened on April 18, 1870 ,in Nærøy parish, Nord-Trøndelag county, Norway.
