Mary Amelia Camomile Conway

Mary Conway, 1917-2006: Mary Amelia Conway, 89, passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at an Ojai hospital. Mary was born Jan. 1, 1917, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Melissa Jane and Fred Camomile. At the age of 7, Mary and her mother came to California and settled in Port Hueneme. She attended Hueneme Elementary School and Oxnard High School. She later met and married Neil Conway and they spent the next 50 years together. They moved to Tulare in 1970. Mary moved to Ojai in 1989. Mary worked at numerous jobs, including 20 years as a psychiatric technician at Camarillo State Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Neil Conway in 1982.

Survivors include her daughters, Jeanie Leonardo (husband, Ralph) of Oxnard, Louise Sanford of Ojai and Kathleen Hughan of La Pine, Ore.; grandchildren, Christine Hester, Mary Soto, Cathy Cuilty, Craig Sanford, Matt Sanford, Neil Hughan, Jane Olsen, Sandra Trenkmann and Greg Hughan; 18 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. A private memorial service was held in Camarillo. Arrangements were by Coast Cities Cremations in Ventura. Originally published November 21, 2006, in the Tulare Advance Register Newspaper.
