About Mary E Gruemmer
Mrs. Mary E. Gruemmer, 83, formerly of Davenport, died at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday at the Wilton Nursing Home, following an extended illness. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Frick Funeral Home in Durant. Rev. G. W. Ukena will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mary Gruemmer was born May 5, 1892 in Sunbury, the daughter of Ferdinand and Mary (Jochkeck) Petersen. She married Clarence Gruemmer on March 8, 1911 in Muscatine. Mrs. Gruemmer had been a member of the Wilton Presbyterian Church, Wilton. Surviving are three sons, Henry, San Lorenzo, Calif., Lyle, Walnut Creek, Calif., and Fred, Durant; three daughters, Mrs. Violet Fletcher, Anaheim, Calif., Mrs. R. A. (Florence) Roberts, Woodstock, Ill., and Mrs. E. B. (Lois) Tangen, Eau Gallie, Fla.; 21 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Alma Lage, Davenport. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1965, one son, her parents, two sisters, four brothers and two grandchildren.
