JOHN WOODSON III, born 1655 in Curles, Henrico Co., VA; died Bet. 1699 - 1700 in Henrico Co., VA. He was the son of JOHN WOODSON II and SARAH BROWNE. He married MARY TUCKER Abt. 1677 in Henrico Co., VA. MARY TUCKER, born 1660 in Curles, Henrico Co., VA; died July 1710 in Curles, Henrico Co., VA. She was the daughter of Capt. SAMUEL TUCKER and JANE LARCOME.
Notes for JOHN WOODSON III:
GRANTEE Woodson, John, Jr. grantee. DATE 23 October 1690. NOTE Location: Henrico County. NOTE Description: 1385 acres in the Parish of Varina, on the north side of James River, begg. &c. belongg. to the land of Henry Price. Born about 1655 at Curles, and Henrico county, Virginia was married about 1677 to Mary Tucker, daughter of Samuel Tucker (master of the Ship Vine Tree) and his wife, Jane. After the death of Samuel Tucker, his widow, Jane Tucker married John Pleasants, of Curles, in Henrico county, Virginia. This John Woodson died in 1700. He made his will May 1, 1700, and his widow, Mary Tucker Woodson made her will in 1710. In both wills the names of their four children are mentioned as follows: Joseph, Samuel Tucker, Benjamin and Jane.
Mary Tucker Woodson died in 1710. In her will, proven in Henrico Co., August 1, 1710, she names a daughter, Jane, and grandson, John Woodson, son of daughter Jane, and grandson, Joseph, son of daughter Jane. This seems to establish the fact that the wife of Joseph Woodson was Jane Woodson; though her full name may have been, and doubtless was, Mary Jane Woodson. Mary Tucker Woodson also mentions in will, grandson, " Sanburne Woodson, child to my daughter Mary, wife of my son Joseph." If these last names, no doubt, mean Mary Sanburne, wife of Joseph Woodson. And the child Sanburne was Sanburne Woodson who married Elizabeth Hughes. Joseph Woodson died in Goochland county and his will was proved October 15, 1735. In it he names children; Mary Woodson, who married Stephen Woodson; Judith Woodson, who married Charles Christian; Martha Woodson, who married John Cannon; and Tucker Woodson. (see William & Mary Quarterly.) It appears that the last three children were born in Goochland; so Joseph Woodson must've moved to the county shortly after the death of his mother-in-law, Mary (Tucker) Woodson who died in Henrico in 1710.

There is no mention of these daughters in the will of supposed step-grandfather, John Pleasants; no mention of her in will of supposed grandmother, Jane Larcome Tucker Pleasants; no mention of in the will of supposed mother, Mary Tucker Woodson; no mention in the will of supposed father, John Woodson III, who, in fact, states that he has only one daughter, namely Jane Woodson.
