According to this MyHeritage.com tree, Michael George Doubell, son of Thomas Henry and Caroline Myburgh, was born 5 Dec. 1859 in Winterhoek, baptized 8 May 1860 in Uitenhage, and died 12 Sept. 1928 in Uitenhage Hospital.

He is described as having been married twice, to Maria Vosloo - by whom he has Baby Michael Doubell, and then to Sarah Ann Tant in England - who appears to have subsequently left him after about a year in SA. He is also described as having been "very powerful" which ties in with him possibly having been a Strongman in Fillis Circus at the time he married Sarah Tant.

His occupation is given as a Pensioner with the SAR&H. [SA Railways]

NOTE from Craig Sheldon: Michael Doubell's Estate Papers name only one child, "Baby" Michael George Doubell; however, given that Michael admits in an affidavit that he had not seen his father for 17 years, it is possible that he was unaware of the other children (possibly Patricia, Caroline and "Liefie").

Michael Doubell's Estate Papers also partially resolve the mystery of Sarah Ann Tant - and that "Baby" Michael was unaware of her existence and denied that Sarah and his father ever married (although they did, on 25 Feb. 1900 in London). The Papers also describe Sarah as a "circus girl", so Michael snr. might indeed have been a Strongman.
