Minnie appears in the parental household on the censuses of 1870 and 1880. Both censuses indicate that she was born in Mississippi between 2 June 1868 and 1 June 1869. At the time of her birth, her parents may have resided in either Newton or Monroe county.

The 1890 census is missing. In 1900, she appears near the parental household with her husband (and half-cousin) Tom Odom, son of Samuel
