Morton and his wife, Betty Farris were named in a letter written by Granville Owens (1866-1941) on 7 March 1938. He is also listed in the Revolutionary War Pension Records as being David's son. Morton served in the War of 1812, enlisting in Captain William Smith's Company on 18 September 1812. This Company was formed in Rockcastle County, Kentucky.
