About NN Dudley
Capt. Roger Dudley Is seen as her son, but evidence is insufficient.
The Dictionary of National Biography article for Sir Henry Dudley, states that he "was apparently third son of John Sutton de Dudley' and later that "he is said to have married a sister of ... Christopher Ashton, but is not known to have left issue".
"It was about 1535/45, Probably at Boulogne that he (Capt Henry Dudley) married the daughter of Christopher Ashton, (b 1493) who was born about 1519 and who bore him a son, Roger Dudley."

"It was about 1535/45, Probably at Boulogne that he (Capt Henry Dudley) married the daughter of Christopher Ashton, (b 1493) who was born about 1519 and who bore him a son, Roger Dudley." findagrave.com - this is not proven.

Research notes
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Ashton-97
If Mrs. Ashton Dudley had existed then I would suspect that she would be the grandchild or great grandchild of Christopher Ashton, who married Lady Gordon. If we assume her son, Roger Dudley, got married in 1575 at 20-30 then he was born in 1745-55. Mrs. Ashton Dudley would be 18-20, when she had him, so her birthyear would be 1725-1735. In the culture of the time, a marriage of Henry Dudley to an 16-20yo daughter of his fellow conspirators would make sense; It would seal the alliance. Queen Mary I was about to take the thrown in 1552, so I would suspect at this time. The big questions are:, 1) if Henry was either in prison or in France with Rogers maternal male relatives, then was Roger raised in France or raised in England at the Ashton's place without a father; 2) if his mother died before 1556, so when Roger was very young, then who raised Roger? and 3) why is there no record of this marriage, Dudley was very prominent Knight at the time in England and in France. His marriage would be a big deal.
