Allindemagle (part of Ringsted) Soro, Denmark.

His mother died when he was an infant and we was raised by a brother of his mother, Jacob Rasmussen, along with a sister, Meta Marie. They suffered deprivation and neglect and eventually lived with an Uncle of their mother. He was confirmed in the Veterslov Brothers Church in 1855 by a priest named Solomon who was very kind to him. He was then apprenticed to a shoemaker from 1855-1860. He then went to Copenhagen where he met LDS missionaries and was converted, being baptized on April 1, 1862. He was called as a mssionary in 1862, serving in Sengelose and then Roskilde. In Roskilde he met Marie Lovgren who was a private duty nurse at a mental hospital overlooking Roskilde Fjord. He also served in West Sjelland, Soro, and Copenhagen. He decided to go to Zion and booked passage as a cook on a sailing vessel, the Monarch which sailed from Liverpool England on April 14,1864. He arrived in NYC in May, 1864, traveling by rail to Atchison, KS. He traveled from there to Salt Lake City in the wagon train of the Joseph Sharp Company Aug 1864-Oct 1864.After arriving in Salt Lake City, he departed for Logan to seek a former girlfriend. She had already married, so he settled in Brigham City, trying a variety of occupations. Marie Lovgren has also arrived in Brignam City and he married her on November 15, 1866 and was sealed to her on May 3, 1870. They were poor and moved around as they sought better circumstances, ultimately settling in Brigham City in 1874. He pursued his dream of becoming a watch maker. His wife died of dropsy (either heart or kidney failure) on Oct 9, 1884.At the time, his children were all under 15. He decided to return to Denmark in 1906 because his son, Joseph was on a mission in England and he hoped to be reunited with family along with his son. They met in May 1906 in Liverpool and traveled to Denmark. His son returned home in December and he traveled to Germany, Italy, Palestine, Jerusalem, Egypt, returning to stay in Denmark until 1914.
