Being demanded of his reason for withdrawing saith that he conceaved there were such things acted in the church that were ground of his withdrawing and thathe could say no more;
:Bro bowen giveing no other account than as before is required to appear before the church next fifth day to answer to such charges as are to be then brought against him. 8 of 8ber 74 :Bro Bowen junior charged with neglect and contempt of the ordinances of the lord supper and of com[munion] with the church. To this he answereth that he was much troubled in his mind and had heard diverse reports and [as there?] [illegible] some things acted in the church which [then?] he thought were groundless and therefore he did easely withdraw which he was afterwards sorry for that he did not acquaint the church with it before he withdrew; Charged with slandering the pastor of the church as one endeavored to cause his sister to renounce what shee had sworn etc. He answered that he must confesse that he sees it to be an evill to report things before he knows the truth of them; He saith that if those things that he hath done were to be done again he would not do them bec[ause?] of the sinfullnesse of them; In relation to neglect of com[munion] and [goeing?] from us on meting dayes he acknowledgeth that he hath done amisse and not walked according to rule and that for time to come he will endeavor to amend and walk more closely with the church; Hereupon it is ordered that he be admonished against such evills the next lords day and thence forward if hee continues penitent to enjoy continued fellowship and full com[munion] with the church. 11th of October 74: Bro obadiah Bowen junior declareing repent[ance] to satisfaction forthe evills charged upon him was further exhorted to see the evill of them and thereupon the church declared their continuance of him in full com[munion] with them. <ref>Swansea Baptist Church Records.
