"Bowentown is still a dot on the map of Hopewell Township --- a neighborhood, a crossroads. The area has been called Bowentown since Samuel Bowen arrived from Wales by way of Massachusetts toward the end of the seventeenth century. Like many of the original settlers of Hopewell Township, the Bowens were Baptists who had not been welcomed by Puritans in New England."
