About Pina Walker

Pina Whitehead was born on December 31, 1891, in Dunklin County, Missouri. She married William George Walker, son of George Washington Walker and Sarah Jane Woolard, about 1911. William's brother Charley married Pina's sister Damie and William's sister Susan married James McMurtry, who was Pina's sister Laura's brother-in-law. William was born on May 8, 1881, in Ripley County, Missouri. He was married before Pina and had two sons from that marriage. William and Pina had children Fred (1912-1976), Minnie (1914-1996), Pearl (1916-1918), and an infant son who died with Pina. Pina died on August 18, 1918, in Washington, Ripley County, along with her infant son as a result of toxemia that was caused by an embolism in her uterus during her pregnancy. She was buried in Gum Cemetery in Naylor, Ripley County, in a plot with her baby. One month before Pina's death, her daughter Pearl died from interitis at the age of two. She was buried in the same cemetery as Pina and the baby. William died on July 1, 1965, in Ripley County. He was buried in Gum Cemetery in a plot with Pina and their infant.
