Biography

Prince Freeman was born on 13 March 1713, the son of Edmund Freeman

and Keziah Presbury of Sandwich, Massachusetts[1]

The Freeman genealogy notes: The name Prince as a Christian name has been common among the descendants of both Edmund Freeman No. 3, and John Freeman No. 5, since their connection with the family of Governor Prence. The governor wrote his name Prence, but the prevailing orthography has long been Prince. This Prince Freeman moved to Mansfield, Connecticut ca. 1739.

On 6 December 1739 when Prince was 25, he first married Ruth Hall, daughter of Theophilus Hall, in Mansfield, Connecticut. Ruth died on 19 May 1740 in Mansfield, Connecticut.

On 15 September 1742 when Prince was 28, he second married Elizabeth Stetson, daughter of Samuel Stetson, in Mansfield, Connecticut. Born on 8 January 1721 in Mansfield, Connecticut. Elizabeth died in Mansfield, Connecticut on 10 March 1744; she was 23.

On 12 December 1745 when Prince was 31, he third married Rebecca Johnson, daughter of William Johnson, in Mansfield, Connecticut. Born on 8 April 1723 in Mansfield, Connecticut.[2]

They had the following children:

Azariah, who was born Sept. 28, 1746[3], who married Anna Wood, and who died in 1828 Prince, born March 5, 1747[4], who lived in the north, possibly New Hampshire Rebecca, who was born 14 Jun 1749[5], who married Noah Upham on March 26, 1771, and "went North" William, born October 14, 1751[6]; who married a daughter of Richard Hanks and lived in Norwich Enoch, born April 11, 1754[7]; who married Elizabeth Eldridge on February 17, 1774, and married second Lucy Forbes, and moved to New Hampshire Experience, born March 26, 1756[8]; who married Jane Upham on January 17, 1781, and " went North" Elijah, who was born November 3, 1757[9]; who married Olive Hovey, December 27, 1781, and who died in 1828 Roger, who was born March 11, 1760[10], and who died in 1819 Elizabeth, who was born in 1762 in Hanover New Hampshire, who married John Durkee of Hanover, and who died in 1816 Ruth, born in 1763 in Hanover, who married Abijah Durkee of Hanover and married second Calvin Topliff, and who died in 1846 Prince and Rebecca moved to Hanover, New Hampshire about 1760.

Prince died in Hanover, New Hampshire on 25 June 1781; he was 68.
