About Pvt. James Marion Akers, (USA)
James Marion Akers was born in 1844 in Floyd County, Kentucky. He was the son of Jonathan Wesley Akers and Sally Howell. He was known by his middle name Marion. He enlisted during the American Civil War on September 6, 1862, at the age of 16, and died of typhoid on April 5, 1863, after only six months of service.
