Brackett Family (web):
20. Rachel5 Brackett (Peter4, Richard3, William2, unknown
father of1) was born in All Saints, Sudbury, Suffolk, England
before April 28, 1614 (chr. date). Rachel died after 22 Mar
1685 in probably, Braintree, MA, at age 70.
She married Francis Newcomb May 27, 1630 in All Saints,
Sudbury, Suffolk, England.(50) Francis was born circa 1605 in
maybe, Sudbury, Suffolk, England.(51) (Additional notes for
Francis Newcomb(52)) Francis died May 27, 1692 in Braintree,
Suffolk Co, MA, at age 86. His body was interred 1692 in
Quincy, now Norfolk Co, MA.(53) His name is found first in the
parish registers at Sudbury. No other Newcomes appear in the
Sudbury parishes. The naming pattern of his children accurately
reflects his wife's parents, and indicate that his parents
might have been John and Hannah. According to a passenger list
of April 5, 1635, now in London, he came to New England on the
ship "Planter". Since many of the other emigrants on that
vessel were from St. Albans in Hertfordshire, many researchers
had speculated that he had come from there. After his arrival,
he stayed in Boston for three years, and then settled in Mt.
Wallaston, later called Braintree, in an area that is now in
Quincy.
