His parentage is unknown- some are listing him as the son of Robert Hardesty who's sons Thomas and Edmund married into the Cheney/Chaney families. If he is the son of Robert he is not named in his will -
and by this another has claimed him to be son of John Hardesty and Elizabeth Boarman.
