To Whom This May Concern:

I was born in Washington Township, Putnam Co., Indiana, March 8 1882. A resident of Indianapolis since 1902. Attended grade and High-school in Putnam Co., entering De Pauw University in 1900, pursuing a course preparatory to Medicine. Entered the Indiana Medical College in 1902 graduating from the Indiana Medical College the Department of Purdue University in 1906. Interne [sic] at city Dispensary 1906-1907. Ass't Pathologist and Pathologist, Indiana State board of Health, 1907,08, 09. Declined appointment to Chair of Pathology, Tulane University, LA., 1909. Accepted appointment in the Insular Service, serving as Heath Officer of the Philippines under the auspices of the U.S. Marine Hospital and Public Health Service form 1909-1914. Post-Graduate course, Vienna University, Vienna Austria, 1913. Declined Post as Investigator of Intestinal Parasitic Diseases, Venezuela, S.A., 1914 Practice of Medicine and surgery in Indianapolis, since 1915. Served during war period at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, 1917, 1918.

Contributions to Science: I. The Prevalence of Intestinal Parasites in the Philippine Islands with supplement on Diagnosis and Treatment. II. A Report and summary of the work accomplished during the years 1910, 1911, 1912 (These articles can be had from the library of the Jefferson Medical college, Philadelphia, PA..)

A member of the North Park Lodge F & A.M. chapter, council, commandery, Scottish-Rite and Shrine A Methodist in religious belief. Protestant throughout, in sympathy with organizations believing in Protestant control in America. Ancestral-Lineage: Huguenot-English. Maternal-paternal Daniel Boone Always a Republican. Supporting the in-coming Mayor through the campaign for treasurer and since. Offices: 622 Hume-Mansur Bldg., 1865 Clifton Street, Home 3466 North Capitol Avenue.

If I can be of service to my city's government I will glady do so. I wish to add that I am best fitted for service as a member of the City Board of Health, but should such position not be available, would consider, seriously the superintendency of City Hospital.

PROMINENT PHYSICIAN OF INDIANAPOLIS DIES

DR. ROSS. S. RISSLER, FORMERLY WAS OFFICER IN THE PHILIPPINES

AIDED BOY SCOUT WORK

Dr. Ross. S. Rissler, prominent Indianapolis physician and surgeon and former United States Health officer of the Philippine Islands, died Thursday at his home, 3466 North Capitol Avenue. He had suffered a sunstroke last July, and had never recovered from it. In addition to his prominence in the medical profession, Dr. Rissler was active in Indianapolis Boy Scout work, and was affiliated with the executive board of the Boy Scout council.

He was born in Washington township, Putnam county, the son of John T. and Elizabeth Boyd Rissler, on March 8, 1882. He was a descendant of Huguenot-English lineage. Through Catherine Boone, daughter of Squire Boone and niece of the pioneer frontiersman, Daniel Boone, he traced his English descent. His grandfather, William Rissler was of Huguenot lineage.

BECAME STATE PATHOLOGIST

Dr. Rissler attended grade and high schools in Putnam county and took a pre-medical course at De Pauw University. He entered the Indiana Medical college, then known as Purdue University department of medicine, and served his internship at the City Dispensary. In 1907 he received appointment as state pathologist for the Indiana state board of health, which position he held from 1907-1909.

He was married to Miss Emma D. Boeling in 1909. After the marriage they made a trip around the world. In this year, also, he was appointed in the United States insular service as health officer of the Philippines working under the sponsorship of the United States Marine Hospital in the islands.

In 1910, 1911, and 1912 he was director in charge of the "hookworm survey of the Philippine islands." In 1913 he served as part-time surgeon in the Philippine General Hospital at Manila. In 1913 he took a post-graduate course at the University of Vienna, in Austria. In October 1913, Dr. and Mrs. Rissler returned to Indianapolis. In the world war, he served on the staff at St. Vincent's Hospital.

Since that time he has conducted a private practice as physician and surgeon with offices at 622 Hume-Mansur building. He was a member of the staff of both the Methodist and City hospitals.

AUTHOR OF MEDICAL BOOK

Dr. Rissler was a member of the Scottish Rite, Shrine, North Park Lodge, F. and A.M. : the Improved Order of Red Men and the Indianapolis Athletic Club. He was an active member of the Zion Evangelical church. He was the author of a volume entitled "The Prevalence of Intestinal Parasites in the Philippine Islands," and of a government report and summary of his health work in the Philippines.

Survivors are the widow, a son, Ross Rissler, Jr., a student at Indiana University; five brothers, Walter, Ralph, Frank, Bert and Will Rissler, and three sisters, Mrs. Frank Rightsell, Mrs. Conrad Dutell and Mrs. Ross Finley, all of whom live in or near Brazil, Ind.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
