About Salomon Loew Langermann
Source: [Die Judengemeinde von Floss, 1684-1942 : die Geschichte einer judischen Landgemeinde in Bayern . By Höpfinger, Renate. pub:Kallmunz Opf. : M. Lassleben, 1993. Series title: Regensburger historische Forschungen ; Bd. 14. UCB Main DS135.G4 F544 1993 English title: The Jewish community of Floss, 1684-1942: the history of a rural Jewish community in Bavaria (not available in English)"] states that he was denied residency in Floss in 1848, yet also mentions that several years later he was the second Jew to have a home on the central square instead of in the Jewish section ("Judenberg")
from his g-granddaughter Trudi"s memories of what she was told: He was tall, very good looking, and had blue eyes, we always wondered where that came from. N.B. Langermann means tall man in German and this name was acquired when Napolean made jews take names in 1814 in Floss, see the shtetl site for Floss at http://kehilalinks.jewishgen.org/floss/floss-home.html
from the research of Jochen Martz about the Murnthal Valley (see Loeb Langermann): "Obermurnthal [the mirror factory] was founded in 1846 by the same man, who founded Mittermurnthal [also a mirror factory]. About 1855 (the exact date I have to find out) Obermurnthal was sold to the Langermanns / Steinhardts. In 1864 the Steinhardts sold their 50 % to Salomon Langermann, who owned the company LANGERMANN & SOHN together with his father LOEW. When Salomon died in 1877 he left his 50 % of Mitter- and Obermurnthal to his wife Auguste and her 3 youngest children. AUGUSTE now owned 2/5 of the 50 % (=20% of all), their children ISIDOR, JACOB and KAROLINE (=Lina) each 1/5 (=10% of all) of the 50 %, which once belonged to Salomon. The other 50 % were still owned
