Samuel Allen lived in Floyd Co, Ky in 1820 and 1830. It is not presently known how many children were born to this family. One child has be definitely established through the Breathitt Co, Ky vital statistics. The entry reads : William Allen age 71, d. Feb. 8, 1854; married; farmer; parents: Samuel and Sarah Allen; Birthplace: Patrick Co, VA; found dead in woods. 

Another child is established through the marriage records. Elizabeth Allen m. 19 Jun 1810 Samuel Patton in Floyd Co, Ky. Samuel Allen as a bondsman for the marriage license of Elizabeth Allen and Samuel Patton, dated 6 April 1810. When the marriage took place on 12 Apr 1810 Sarah Allen is given as mother. It is presumed that Samuel Allen died in the interval between giving bond for the marriage and the actual marriage.

Another child John Allen is know through the Floyd Co, Ky court records. He was born at Virginia. He married Sarah Prater, daughter of Jonathan Prater, on 17 September 1783 at Henry County, Virginia.

Samuel Allen (Patrick County, Va) married to Sarah Elizabeth Prater on Sept 17, 1783 in Henry County, Virginia. I am still looking for some reference to them in Virginia, because their first 5 children were born there. Their children's births indicate the movement of the family from Patrick County (William Allen b.1783) to Washington County, North Carolina (Margaret Allen b.1795)
