About Samuel Garns
He was probably born in New Jersey although census records place his birth in Pennsylvania and Delaware in addition to New Jersey.
The 1850 Census reports that he was a farmer. The 1860 Census reports that he was a gentleman. The 1870 Census reports that he was a retired weaver.
His marker is one of the few legible markers in the cemetery. It is listed in the Pflueger transcripts of grave marker inscriptions and on the diagram attributed to Samuel H. Garns. The birth date derived from his age-at-death is consistent with the birth date recorded for him in his Family Bible. Inscription: Our Father Samuel Garns Died May 27, 1880 Aged 85 Yrs, 1 Mo & 18 Days
He took thee from a world of care An everlasting bliss to share
