Biography

Rev. Samuel Newby was born on January 23, 1707 in Perquimans, North Carolina, United States. His parents were Gabriel Newby and Mary Newby (Toms).

Samuel married Ann Newby (Mayo) in 1729 in Perquimans County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Edward Mayo and Mary Clare. Together they had the following children:

  1. Jemima Newby;
  2. Isabell Newby;
  3. Edward Newby.

Ann died 1739.
Samuel married Elizabeth Newby (Sanders) in 1740 in Perquimans County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Benjamin Sanders and Ann Sanders (Elliott).

Elizabeth died in Perquimans, North Carolina about 1795; she was 75. Together they had the following children:

  6. Gideon Newby;

Not Rev. Samuel George Newby ( his parents were James Newby and Sarah Philura Newby (Nicholson). Don't confuse with - Rev Samuel Newby. Both Reverends' lived in same area, but different birth dates and different wives and children.
